Croquet 2014: St. John's 1, Navy 4
Alumni, students and the wider community packed the front lawn of the Annapolis campus for a celebrated rite of spring: the Annual St. John’s – U.S. Naval Academy Croquet match. More than 3,500 attended in festive attire—top hats, seersucker, pearls, and feathered hats that rivaled those of the Kentucky Derby—for champagne picnics, swing dancing, and reunions with friends and faculty. Amid the joyous outpouring of spring fever the two teams played a closely contested match. From the first opening shot at 1 p.m. to the final swing after 8 p.m., the Midshipmen and Johnnies jousted for the beloved Annapolis Cup. Navy made history, winning for the first time two years in a row. Imperial Wicket and St. John’s senior Samuel Collins led the charge against Navy after the Johnnies revealed their uniforms: Greek togas. “I wanted something that would make a statement,” Collins says, “The togas are a return to our roots.” Read the article in the Capital Gazette.

Make SJC a part of your summer plans at ALF
The Alumni Leadership Forum (ALF), an annual event founded in 2010, features workshops, trainings, and programs that bring together St. John's alumni, faculty, and administrators for a working weekend, during which college staff share current goals and let alumni know how we can support programs in Admissions, Career Services, and Alumni Giving. ALF rotates each year between the Annapolis and Santa Fe campuses, and all alumni are invited to attend. Your contributions are invaluable. This year's ALF is Friday, June 6, through Sunday, June 8, in Annapolis. Read more.

The Logos of Logos
For all of us who care about St. John’s College and about the education the college offers, recent challenges to higher education in general, and to liberal arts in particular, require careful and timely responses. Read the letter from vice presidents for Advancement Victoria Mora and Barbara Goyette (A73) about the college's new logo.

St. John's College Email Domains are Changing
St. John’s College is in the process of changing its email. All college email addresses are now  myname@sjc.edu. (The Santa Fe campus email domain name has traditionally been myname@sjcsf.edu, and the Annapolis domain name was myname@sjca.edu.) Both old and new email addresses will work until September 20, 2014, after which time the old domains will not work. The Communications offices and IT are facilitating the change.
